Kate started her own non-profit organization recently to support her work. According to the Kansas City Star, "Chain of Hope’s mission, she says, is to break the chain of ignorance for pet owners who neglect their outside dogs, to break the chain of unwanted litters, to literally break chains and padlocks off dogs, encouraging owners instead to use cable tie-outs that won’t embed themselves in a dog’s neck."
I was not able to find a website for Chains of Hope...but if anyone has more info, let me know and I will link to Kate here on the Scoop.
UPDATE: I heard from Miss Kate's daughter! She provided the following info: The website is in progress and should be up soon. it is www.chainofhopekc.org. In the meantime the contact info is: Chain of Hope, 258 W. 3rd Street, 1st floor, KCMO 64105.

Wow. I would love to know more about her approach (e.g., people skill), that is clearly so successful.
ReplyDeleteI found this information from a friend of hers. Hopefully this will help get donations to her!

What a sincere approach to help others. I was overwhelmed when I read this. I hope there is a way that others can help Kate out. I will be donating.
ReplyDeleteWe are having a fundraiser for Chain of Hope on Thursday March 4th! The event is at Tower Tavern and we are taking donations at the door. A suggested donation is $10. We will have a silent auctiin and Ryan Patrick Imming will be playing music. Hope to see you there! You can also find Chain of Hope on facebook.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great cause. Wireless dog fences are another alternative to short-chain tie-outs. I'm using Havahart's Radial-Shape Wireless Dog Fence. It tells me the distance to my dog, battery life in the collar, if my dog breaches field (an alarm goes off). Others systems don’t tell you if the dog escapes.
ReplyDeleteGood job Kate keep up the good work
ReplyDeleteThank You, for rescueing the German Shephard from S.KC in the pooring rain. We hope your eye is OK. Sherry & Bub Cooper
